A bit about me

I'm a former cell and developmental biologist-turned science writer with a love for communicating science, engaging in outreach, and exploring the intersection between art and science.

Originally from New Jersey, USA, I now live and work in Scotland as a science and medical communicator and content marketing expert with QIAGEN. I love being able to write about science while flexing my creative muscle. I’m adept at writing for a broad range of audiences, from children to doctors, government leaders to the public.

I completed my PhD in the Cell Biology department at Yale University, where I examined how crosstalk between the cell nucleus, the cytoskeleton, and cellular adhesions influences global cell and tissue behaviors.

Afterwards, I took a postdoctoral position in Japan at the RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research. I studied how interactions between intercellular adhesions and the actin cytoskeleton are regulated to control the extent of dorsal fold invagination in the early Drosophila embryo.

I'm also an artist specializing in technical illustration, print making and sewing.
